Micro-vinification from vines on Jurassic soil .02 degrees north from the Colline Rouge and with slightly higher elevation, giving it a brighter acidity. Since cold air flows down, the lower parts of the vineyard are at greater risk of spring frost. Diminished water at the top, facilitated by natural drainage, also means less mineralization in the wines. It results in a lower pH level, which makes the wines “finer and more elegant.” Fruit grown lower down is slightly riper and makes wines which are “rounder and more melting.”
