Els Vinyerons "Pregadeu" Cava
Amós Bañeres's journey from a pharmacist's desk in Catalonia to ten hectares of biodynamic and organic vineyards in the mountainous Alt. Pénedes is a remarkable tale. In collaboration with Alex Ruíz, they founded Els Vinyerons, with the vision of creating affordable and approachable natural wines. Their wines are wild-fermented, unfined, unfiltered, and non-SO2, showcasing the unique terroir of northeast Spain. To enhance the 'approachability,' they blend younger vintages with one-year-aged old French Oak wines, adding structure and richness. Named after insects found at their vineyard sites, 'Pregadeu' is a standout, representing the beauty of traditional Cava with tight, crisp bubbles and a creamy richness from lees contact. Expect flavors of bright lemon custard, brioche, and fresh grapefruit. Serve chilled. Made from 100% Xarel-lo grapes harvested from fossilized limestone soils, this wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation with ambient yeasts and is bottled using the ancestral method. Disgorged in September 2019, it remains unfined, unfiltered, and has no additional SO2.
